Abstract: Human-animal relationships stir many intrapsychic meanings for people and are potential sources of growth in individuals, families, and communities. Examining such meanings in our patients’ material regarding their pet companions can prompt fertile exploration and insight. This paper explores the psychoanalytic and psychohistorical significance of media portrayals of such relationships.
