Peter Petschauer is a talented writer, a thorough researcher, and a kind and generous spirit. I’ve had the privilege of working with Peter as an independent editor on several of his publications, which was an honor and a pleasure.
His novel, A Perfect Portrait: A Novel Set in Eighteenth-

Century Weimar, Germany (2016), paints a detailed image of an artist constructed from several women artists in 18th century Weimar, Germany. His personal memoir, An Immigrant in the 1960s: Finding Hope and Success in New York City (2020), not only reveals his personal experience but also draws comparisons with the greater challenges an immigrant in New York would face today. His scholarly memoir, In the Face of Evil: The Sustenance of Tradition, focuses on the life stories and his relationship with, in his words, “the four women who kept me from becoming a little Nazi” (Petschauer, 2014, p. 4).
Each of these works (and I’m sure his many other works with which I am not personally familiar) illuminates his research and his spirit. He was a neighbor for several years and we miss his presence here in the neighborhood.
