Writing Poetry Prolongs My Life (poem)
Abstract: I am 91 this year, which I see as an accomplishment. But many close friends are gone.
Writing poetry keeps me alive –
I think deep thoughts
And am moved by my feelings
Emotional excitement,
Prevents stagnation.
My heart beats faster,
My mind churns,
Thoughts fly.
Poems are ideas –
Ideas germinate,
Poems sprout.
Writing poetry
Can become a matter of
Life or death –
An awesome gift.
