Paradoxes of Aging

article

Abstract

The author examines the nature of aging, with its varying dimensions, through the psychodynamic lens. This paper also draws from a context-specific understanding of aging in India, which not only idealizes elderly care at home but also turns to the aged figures in the family for advice and crucial decisions. With references to art and literature, the author hypothesizes the multiplicity in aging, the particularity of pain in aged bodies, and contemplations orbiting the demarcations and similarities between aging and agedness.
