The Ethical Compass of Psychohistory with Robert Jay Lifton
Abstract
Robert Jay Lifton is a distinguished thinker of the 20th and 21st centuries who exemplified the pursuit of committed psychoanalytical and psychohistorical research. His works chronicle the excesses of history through an in-depth focus on the psychological lives of individual survivors and, simultaneously, their impact on the collective. With him, psychohistory moves from being a search for the “grand and great life” to that of the ordinary human’s experiential voice. The present writing is a tribute honoring his life and contributions.
