Joyce Berkman
Joyce Avrech Berkman, PhD, is Professor of History at the University of Massachusetts as well as Adjunct Professor of Women’s Studies. Recently, she served as a Senior Fulbright Professor at the Free University, Berlin. Her publications include essays and a critical biography on Olive Schreiner, critical essays and an edited volume on Edith Stein, and essays on Vera Brittain. Her most treasured honor is the University’s Distinguished Teacher Award. Professor Berkman, who has been married for 44 years, has two sons, and two grandsons.
