Ludmila Zhirina
Ludmila Stanislavovna Zhirina teaches ecology and many of her students have become teachers in the Bryansk Region. She has published a number of articles on dendroclimatology (the effects of climate on trees) and the effect of radioactivity on the growth of Russian forest tree species. Dr. Zhirina is voluntary Executive Director of Viola, the non-governmental ecological organization described in the article.
