Paul Salstrom, PhD, professor emeritus of history at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana, was a prison friend of Morton Sobell from 1962 to 1964. His memoir, Appalachia’s Alternative to Mainstream America, was published by the University of Tennessee Press in fall 2021. He can be reached at .
