Roger S. Lorenz
Roger S. Lorenz gained conscientious objector status in World War II and devoted his life to understanding the causes of violence and war. So as not to support military spending, he lived in an isolated cabin on a mountain, refusing to pay taxes by avoiding taxable work. When he inherited stocks worth almost $30,000, he gifted the money to the International Psychohistorical Association and a second group he saw as also working against warfare, thus avoiding all taxes on it.
