Sverre Varvin
Sverre Varvin, MD, is a Norwegian doctor, psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst. He is a professor at the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion at Oslo Metropolitan University and a training analyst at the Norwegian Psychoanalytic Society. He has authored Escape and Exile (2003, 2nd ed. 2015); Norway and Psychoanalysis (2002); and Upheaval: Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Trauma (2002). In 2013, he received the King’s medal for “important contributions to Norwegian and international psychiatry and mental health,” in particular the involvement of refugees, human rights work, and the commitment to further education of psychotherapists in China.
