2025 CONFERENCES: The August 23rd Psychohistory Forum’s Psychobiography Reading Group dedicated to Oliver Sacks was an exciting endeavor. The next Psychohistory Forum’s Work-In-Progress virtual meeting will be held on September 27th, when Jeffrey B. Rubin will present “The Political is Personal: Benevolence and Sadism are Learned at Home.” All meetings are currently virtual or hybrid; the in-person meetings are hosted by Professor Harold Takooshian at Fordham University/ Lincoln Center—sincere thanks! Other 2025-2026 Psychohistory Forum’s meetings, including the Lifetime Achievement Awards in Psychohistory, are being planned and will be announced shortly. The International Society for Political Psychology’s (ISPP) meeting was held at Newcastle University (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) on July 16-19, 2026. The annual conference of the Association for the Psychoanalysis of Culture and Society (APCS) will be on October 23-25, 2025, at Rutgers University; and the Interdisciplinary Conference of the International Forum for Psychoanalytic Education (IFPE) will be held on November 6-8, 2025, in Washington D.C.
PSYCHOHISTORICAL SCHOLARSHIP: On August 15th, Marilyn Charles presented on “Trauma, Identity, and Development” at the Austen Riggs Center.
